Who is Rjay?

Hello everyone! My name is Rjay, and I started in this industry with a dream to reach my full potential as a hairstylist. Growing up, my parents gave me a lot of expressive freedom which allowed me to venture into a variety of different hairstyles that better expressed who I am. Having this creative freedom gave me confidence and a sense of pride when styling my hair for any occasion I was apart of.  From cutting my own hair, to doing my own highlights, seeing what I envisioned come to life had confirmed that being a hairstylist was my dream. I’ve been in the hair industry since 2014 and one of the main things i’ve learned on this journey is that if you want to reach your full potential, it’s important to constantly learn different methods and techniques that may push me out of my comfort zone. Wherever I go and whoever I see, I always picture how I imagine one’s hair If I was given the opportunity to shape and color their hair in order to compliment one’s features. My passion for this industry is an endless river that flows and evolves as I continue to educate myself with new trends and I have the dedication to constantly expand the knowledge I have now. When you sit in my chair, my goal is to always provide the best service and advice in order to bring what you envision for your hair to a reality. Hope to see you soon!

Career History

Innovation Hair Salon: My first year in the industry I decided to work in a salon located in the Carlsbad mall. It was a great first year working there learning and building my clientele. After a year I decided to go find a new salon that focused on continued education.

JCPenney Hair Salon: Second year in I wanted to start new venture and found a salon that had continued education to learn new products and trends. Working at JCPenney hair salon was such a wonderful experience. I continued to grow my clientele and I love the environment that was created by the company. Towards the end of the year I decided once again I needed a new salon home . I wanted my next venture to be a little more challenged and higher end.

Pistachio Cut and Color Bar: Third year in I was able to land a position at a busy team based salon that offered services in a more upscale neighborhood. Working at Pistachio I was able to learn so many techniques and learned a lot of color theory mixed with haircut theory as well. Working there helped shaped me to the stylist I am today. I worked with pistachio for 7 years when I was let go. Thankfully! Towards the end I felt stuck and didn’t feel happy in my craft because of the high stress and high pace environment created. 

    Once again I needed a change. I needed to find my independence as a stylist. I felt this deep calling to start my own business, I trusted myself and took the leap that I know I needed to be happy in life and in my work. It felt like a breath of fresh air and my fears slowly went away the more I focused. With this new light lite inside me I took that energy and applied it. Thus Hair By RJay was Born!

Hair By Rjay: July 2nd 2023 Was the first day I opened the doors to my hair studio. MY vision for Hair by Rjay is to become the highly educated hair stylist with the abilities to perform high end results. At Hair By Rjay it is my mission to make sure I can understand my clients needs and desired result with their hair. I will continue to actively learn new trends/techniques and Innovating new hair health care to deliver high quality results and experiences.
